Summer School China
BUNAC believes that the best way to experience a county is to fully immerse yourself into the culture and community. Our 6 week Summer School China programme gives you the perfect opportunity to do just that whist working in a Chinese summer school. You will be able to share your skills and knowledge with the students and teachers and get an invaluable insight into their ways of life. Take time to share stories and life experiences, learn some of the local language and sample the local delicacies. It all adds up to provide you with a unique and memorable travel experience.
About China
China is a diverse country combining natural beauty, enchanting historical locations and modern, exciting development. Being the 3rd largest country in the world with the biggest population there is no doubt it is emerging as the next superpower. You can experience the finance driven cities competing with the fastest growing economies in the world. However, in contrast there are still quaint enchanted rural villages to explore. Walk in the footsteps of ancient emperors as you explore the Forbidden City. Marvel at the awesome sight of the terracotta warriors and trek the great wall. The extensive transport network allows you to easily explore all the unique and exciting places China has to offer.
Programme options
Operated in conjunction with the Teach and Travel Company China (TTC), the Summer School China programme provides in-country residential training followed by a Summer School placement. In your first week you will study Camp Leadership skills including basic TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) that will prepare you for your work placement. On completion of the training you will be issued with a Camp Leadership Certificate.
The programme is based in Chinese Schools where they run different types of camps for children of all ages. They are activity based and provide an opportunity for young people to learn, share, explore, develop and have fun together whilst learning from international counsellors. Typical activities include games, arts & crafts, songs and personal development. Extra curricular activities may also be available as will the opportunity to teach conversation English to small groups of students.
Teachers receive a small allowance whilst working (in addition to accommodation and meals). This is approximately £130 which is paid in two instalments. Schools are spread throughout the country. However, there will be at least one other international participant working with you at the school.
