What is the Orientation Interview? If my application is unsuccessful will I get my deposit back? What is a police check? What medical advice does BUNAC offer?

Flights Visa & Insurance

Can I book my own flights? Do I need to apply for a visa? Do I need insurance?

Volunteer Placement

How many people take part in the programme? What is the arrival orientation? How do I choose my project? How many hours will I work for? Will I be placed with other volunteers? Can I go for less than 8 weeks? Will there be opportunities to travel during my stay? How much spending money should I take?

It’s difficult to give an exact figure, as it depends on what you choose to do while you’re in India. We recommend that you anticipate spending £175 per month whilst you are volunteering to cover your daily needs. However, if you intend to travel at weekends or have plans for post programme travels we recommend that you take extra.

"To be able to meet local Indian people, one by one, and experience their everyday life was a privilege that I expect will stay with me forever."

"I really enjoyed my time volunteering and although it was quite challenging at times, ultimately my experiences were highly rewarding. There was a strong sense of community and the families made the all the volunteers feel very welcome."
Lucy
