How to Apply - There are a few application and visa
steps along the way, but once you have the internship organised the process is relatively
straightforward.
BUNAC staff have a great deal of experience in helping people in these areas and
will be happy to answer any queries or provide the guidance you may need.
BUNAC USA will process applications from students of any nationality studying within
the US and from US nationals studying elsewhere. (Not a US citizen and not studying
in the US? Click here.)
The first step is to submit your complete Intern in Britain
application to BUNAC. When that is approved you can then move on to the second step
– applying for your UK visa.
Step 1. Program application
You will start your Intern in Britain application online here.
Once you have completed this and paid the application fee you will need to send
the following to BUNAC:
- Employer Application & Agreement - Your employer
can complete the pdf online and save the data but must print off the form and mail
it to BUNAC. The completed form can be sent directly to the BUNAC office in London
and a scanned copy can be mailed to BUNAC CT with your application or you can include
the original with your application. A copy of your internship training plan should
also be included.
- Proof of current or recent student status, ie. your original official transcript
- Copy of your passport information page
- A copy of your most recent bank statement showing proof of sufficient funds - $1500
minimum
- If you are not purchasing BUNAC's insurance policy then please send a summary of
your policy benefits
- A copy of your relevant visa if applying outside of your country of citizenship.
- Program reference from a previous employer or a professor who has known you for
at least 6 months.
You can download the Employer Application and Agreement here.
If you have any queries about the program, please call BUNAC in Connecticut on:
1-800-462-8622, or send an email to: wib@bunacusa.org.
BUNAC will assess your application. Once approved, we will issue you with a unique
Certificate of Sponsorship reference number which will enable you to apply for your
UK visa. We recommend that you do not book any non-refundable flights to the UK
until your visa has been issued.
Step 2. Applying for your UK Visa
Once you have been accepted on Intern in Britain, your
next step is to apply online for your visa. The cost is currently £190. BUNAC
will send you full instructions on how to do this.
Please note that you cannot apply for your visa more than 3 months before your planned
entry to the UK. The whole visa application process including having your fingerprints
taken will take a minimum of 6 weeks. You will be without your passport for approximately
15 business days during this process. Visas are issued at the discretion of the
British Government. BUNAC is not responsible for any delayed applications or visa
refusals.
