Winter Olympics
The 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games are being held in Vancouver and Whistler and will be taking place for most of February and March 2010. If you are not in Canada yet then it is strongly advisable to arrive a few months prior to the start of the Olympics in order to find work and get settled before the games start. The job and accommodation situation in other regions of Canada should not be affected by the Olympics.
Warning: We are already getting feedback that affordable accommodation is proving hard to find in Whistler, and that many jobs specifically for the Olympics have already been filled. Accommodation prices in Whistler are also expected to rise rapidly the closer you get to the Olympics.
Top Tip: If travelling to Whistler or Vancouver in February then pre-book accommodation as many hotels and hostels are already booked out for February 2010!
