Other Returner Options
Returning as a counsellor to a different camp
If you have already arranged a contract, apply to the returner programme as described
here but with the addition of a letter of reference from your previous camp. We
cannot accept your application without this additional reference. If you would like
BUNAC to find a new camp for you this year, apply as a first time applicant so that
we can compile an up-to-date dossier to show to camp directors. You must also attend
an interview even if you have a referral to a camp which is interested but has not
yet issued a contract. Again you must have a letter of reference from your old summer
camp.
KAMPers returning as counsellors
If you have previously worked as support staff at a camp (through BUNAC’s KAMP programme
or similar) and have now been offered a position as a counsellor, you should not
apply as a returner but to the Summer Camp USA programme as a
direct placement first time applicant instead.
Counsellors returning as support staff
If you have previously worked as a camp counsellor (through BUNAC’s Summer Camp
USA programme or similar) and have now been offered a position as support staff
(kitchen, maintenance, office, etc.), you should not apply as a returner but to
the KAMP programme as a direct placement first time applicant. Please call us for
further advice. Note you must be a full time degree-level student to be eligible
for KAMP.
Not in the UK or Ireland?
If you are returning to camp but are not currently living in the UK or Ireland you
should apply through our Direct Placement Overseas programme instead. Please contact
BUNAC for advice.
