Summer Camp USA Insurance
It is essential that you take out adequate insurance for your trip. BUNAC, in partnership
with Endsleigh offers invaluable cover for trips worldwide. Cover includes cancellation
and curtailment of the trip due to accident, illness or sickness; the cost of any
repatriation back to the UK following a medical emergency. Additionally cover for
over 100 sports and activities are included as standard under this policy and full
details are available within the activity guide lists available in your policy documents.
Why it is Mandatory
Insurance is a vital part of working and travelling in North America. In fact, the
US Government requires that all J-1 programme participants are adequately insured.
In order to be confident that all our participants comply with this requirement,
BUNAC’s insurance is a mandatory part of all our US programmes.

Period of Coverage
The basic premium provides cover for up to 119 consecutive days and enables you
to travel in the USA, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. You are covered at no extra
cost whilst taking part in most sporting activities and in supervised hazardous
activities.
The policy is only valid between the dates you specify on the Flight/ Insurance
Booking Form or the last return flight on the BUNAC flight programme, whichever
is sooner.
These dates cannot be more than 119 (or 147 with additional premium) days apart.

Significant Exclusions
General exclusions applicable to all sections of the policy: Travel to a country
or specific area or event which the Foreign and Commonwealth office or the World
Health Organisation has advised the public not to travel to.
Excess
The first £50 of each and every claim per incident claimed for by each insured person
except for claims under personal liability, personal accident and legal expenses
where no excess applies.
Cancellation or curtailment charges
- Any circumstances known prior to booking the trip that could reasonably be expected
to give rise to a claim. Emergency medical and other expenses.
- Treatment or surgery which in the opinion of the medical practitioner in attendance
can wait until your return home.
- Medication, which prior to departure is known to be required.
Baggage & Personal money, passport and documents
- Valuables left unattended at any time unless in a safety deposit box or in your
locked accommodation.
- Baggage contained in an unattended motor vehicle between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. or between
9 a.m. and 9 p.m. unless it is in a locked boot or covered from view in a locked
car.
- Personal money or your passport left unattended at any time unless in a hotel safe,
safety deposit box or in your locked accommodation.
