What does my employer in America have to do?
Your employer in America must complete a Training Plan which details exactly what
you will be doing in America and justify the length of your internship.
When reading the Training Plan, we must have a clear understanding of the goals
of the training and how you will meet those goals. We need to have detailed descriptions
of the kinds of activities and projects you will be involved in. This is best expressed
in a weekly or monthly breakdown of your activities.
BUNAC evaluates each application individually and on its own merits. It is not possible
to tell you whether your application will be accepted until we receive the complete
application and have sufficient time to review it. Please allow at least 10 weeks
for processing and be prepared to be flexible regarding your training dates.
When BUNAC receives an application we are looking, amongst other things, to see
the following:
- That you have a connection with the field in which you are intending to train
- The internship relates to your current work experience or qualifications
- There is a reason to go to America to undertake this training
- The training is going to be beneficial to your future career when you return home
- That it is a training position and not a job
- That you will be receiving on going, continuous supervised training for your entire
stay in the USA
- That the training is of a professional level and will involve very little
unskilled activities.
BUNAC reserves the right to refuse any application if it is felt that the application
does not meet the criteria of Internship USA.
